Ability Society

Their goal is to see that all children and adults with special needs and seniors have the opportunity to gain a higher quality of life and become active participants in their community.

Ability OnLine

"Connecting kids with special needs for friendship and support". Ability OnLine is a friendly computer friendship network where children and youth with disabilities or chronic illnesses connect to each other as well as to their friends, family members, caregivers and supports.


Alberta Aids To Daily Living

Provides financial assistance to people who have a chronic disability or illness, and those who are terminally ill to gain access to authorized basic medical equipment including orthotics and standing aids and supplies so they can function more independently in a home or home-like setting.
To participate in the program, a person must have along-term disability lasting six months or more, or a chronic illness or terminal illness. Eligible people must also be an Alberta resident and have a valid Alberta Personal Health Care number.


Alberta Children’s Hospital: Outpatient Care – Neuromotor Clinic

Provides assessment, therapy programming and coordinated follow-up as appropriate for children with cerebral palsy.

Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists, provides leadership to audiologists and speech-language pathologists,ensuring communication and hearing health of the public.

Alberta Association for Community Living

To foster family leadership and advocacy in the pursuit of fully inclusive community lives for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The Alberta Association of Rehabilitation Centres (AARC)

A not-for-profit association that exists to provide support to rehabilitation service providers of community-based services for people with disabilities. The goal is to ensure quality service delivery for clients. In fulfilling this mandate, AARC does not limit its support exclusively to its members. The association's education, accreditation and advocacy efforts also have a positive effect on organizations outside the umbrella.

Alberta Government - Education -Special Needs

Under the School Act, school boards are required to provide every resident student with an education. That includes providing access to special education programs for students with special needs.

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped

Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) provides financial and health benefits for adult Albertans with a permanent disability that severely impairs their ability to earn a living. The level of benefits depends on income and assets. The maximum financial benefit is $850 per month.

Autism Aspergers Friendship Society

The AFS provides respite care in a recreational environment for families with children-teens-adults in the Autism/Aspergers/PDD spectrum in the Calgary area.

Autism Calgary Association

Provides support to families of persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders, resource for interested professionals, educators and care givers, provides single voice for families of persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders, creates general awareness and provide education.

Autism Society Central Alberta

A non-profit organization dedicated to providing information and support to families with a member diagnosed with Autism or a related disorder.

Between Friends Club

Between Friends enables participants to experience a sense of belonging and an enhanced quality of life. This is accomplished by providing quality social and recreational opportunities focusing on children and young adults with disabilities.

Braceworks

Braceworks full range of pediatric orthotic treatments includes AFOs, Boston Soft Body Jackets, and Standing Frames. Custom braces and orthotics for children and adults are made in Calgary, Alberta under the direction of Marc Schneider, BPE, Certified Orthotist.  

Calgary Quest School

Provides a multi-disciplinary pre-school program for children (aged 2-1/2 to 5-1/2 years old) and primary/secondary school program students (aged 5-1/2 to 20 years old) with special needs.

Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies, University of Calgary

Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies (CRDS) supports individuals, families and small groups affected by disabling conditions and chronic health concerns to live, learn, work and participate in their communities. CRDS provides education, design delivery and management of community-based services that offer short-term assistance and ongoing support. Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta

This registered charity provides information and support for people with learning disabilities. Sledge Hockey Alberta

Sledge Hockey is an innovative team sport that incorporates the same rules and discipline structure as regular ice hockey. Sledge Hockey players sit on specially designed sleds with skate blades under the seat and use two sticks, not only to pass, stick handle and shoot the puck, but also to propel and maneuver their sleds.
